INDIA vs AUSTRALIA – 2nd TEST -2017- Six Things which Australia need to do to at Bangalore to retain Border Gavaskar trophy and stop India's resurgence

It took 51 months for a visiting team to break the Indian fortress . At last Steven Smith's team did what no body have imagined them to do especially after the domination which Indian team have shown at Home . There is no doubt that Pune's win will go down as one of the best wins ever for Australian cricket but knowing India's ability to bounce back , it is very important that Australia need to put the foot on the paddle , a small setback and the whole series will turn around in a matter of time .

Hence it is essential that Australia continues the momentum they had gained in Pune and for that it is pertinent that they must take following steps in Bangalore to ensure they have upper hand

Playing out 130-140 overs batting first : After Pune backfired , India is expected to present Australians slow turner at Chinnaswamy stadium , moreover after the last test against South Africa was washed out , the drainage system have been relaid , the experts have expected the outfield to be on slower side . Therefore the pitch is expected to be best for batting for at least first three days and then start turning. In such a case Australia must ensure that they bat out at least 130-140 overs in first innings which will ensure them more runs in first innings . As test moves fast in subcontinent things might get tough on 4th and 5th day

 Using Mitchel Marsh more as a bowler : Australia never needed Mitchel Marsh more than now . In High humidity of Bangalore , bowlers will need someone to back them up , Marsh who have bowled almost 120 overs in last 12 innings with an average of 10 overs per inning , will need to step up and be ready to bowl minimum of 25 overs an inning if Virat Kohli and Company start piling on the runs. He will need to ensure that burden on Starc and Hazlewood is reduced to keep them fresh for the second innings . He also need to show better control and keep things tight if Lyon and O keefe start leaking runs . Australia also have option to go with Glen Maxwell but is highly doubtful they will change the winning combination

Matthew Wade need to score runs :The lower order contributions are vital in India . The reason why India beat South Africa, Newzealand and England was the runs piled up by the lower order . It was runs scored by Mitchell Starc in first innings that shifted the momentum to Australia's way on a rank turner . Wade has been struggling with his own form , since his return he has scored only 78 runs at an average of 13. He was selected because of his batting ability but inspite of this he has failed to score a single fifty in 5 tests he has played since his return . It is important for him to score runs personally as well for the team . He need to ensure that lower order contributes to pose strong total .

 Getting Virat Kohli early on : Indian batting line up is a strong and a very long one but getting its main player early well put pressure on them . While Pujara, Rahane, Ashwin and Jadeja all are good contributers but Virat Kohli have been the impact player for India. He has scored plenty of runs this season but more importantly his presence has changed the course of matches . On a slow pitch , Australians need to cut his scoring shots to make him do something different . He has been very good on anything in his zone cutting and driving them so it is important those scoring shots must be cut down.

 Keeping it tight : One of the main receipe of success in subcontinent when the pitch is not doing anything is to keep things tight . Newzealand and England failed to that on consistent basis , out of 6 innings lowest run rate Newzealand could manage was 3.01 in Kolkata test , England were even more  bad , only at Rajkot first inning they were able to control India . Australia meanwhile were brilliant with that in first test keeping it to only 2.61 in first innings and 3.16 in second inning They will have to ensure in Bangalore if they don't get the wicket they soak up the runs to put pressure .

 Winning Mentality : Australia came here labeled as one of the weakest teams but after the first test it is they who have lead of 1-0 . They though must aim to win at Bangalore , winning here would not mean they would continue their hold on Border Gavaskar trophy by they can not lose the series . It will not be as easy because Virat Kohli's men would be like wounded tigers ready to bounce back .
