The fifth Oneday International
to be played at Eden Park promises to be a cracker
There are multiple reasons to look forward to
this Weekends for Cricket fans . West Indies takes on England ,
Australia and India lock horns , far down in Southern hemisphere the
Kiwis and Proteas will take on each other in final encounter of what
have been a engrossing oneday international series . The fifth match
promises to be the best of 2017 as no team is ready to give an inch
to other .
Here are Five reasons why the Auckland oneday
might prove to be a high voltage thriller
1. South Africa trying to forget Horror of
WC : As if Semfinal of 1992 and 1999 were not enough for South
African fans the heartbreak of 2015 WC Semifinal still lingers in the
memory of fans and the team . AB Devilliars have accepted that the
semfinal was a painful expierence and they are determined to erase it
by winning the series on same ground where they were knocked out of
World cup in 2015. If South Africa wins the series they might bury
the ghost of Eden Park and this gives them a reason to try and give
their all.
2. Newzealand need to get off S.African
Bogey : Newzealand as a team has improved since Brendon MacCulum
took over , they are even more dominant at home . They have won their
last eight series at home . However against South Africa their
records takes a beating , Infact South Africa have been a bogey team
for them . Since World Cup 2011 , In last 6 years they have lost 3
home series out of which 2 have been to South Africa . In 2012 ,they
were whitewashed 0-3 and in 2014 they lost 0-2 , Infact NZ have only
won one home series against South Africa in last 26 years , way back
in 2004 . They would like to resurrect that record .
3. Martin Guptill and AB Devilliars : Two
impact players , Guptill showed what he is capable of by playing a
spectacular innings of 180* which in words of Kane Williamson was
best he has seen , South Africa needs to get him early as possible .
If South Africa would like to dismiss Guptill early , then Newzealand
to win have to see AB Devilliars back to pavillion as early as
possible. He is a kind of player who can turn matches in few overs
.Tim Southee said "
We've
had a mixed bag when [it] comes to death bowling in series,"
."When you've got a player like de Villiers who can hit the ball
360 degrees at will, at the end, it is difficult. Coming to a
ground with different dimensions, we'll work on a few things today at
training. Southee was quoted in Stuff.co.nz "We've
seen throughout the series when we haven't got him [early] he has
been able to really make the most of those last five or six overs.
He further added.
4.
S.African Pacers vs Kiwi Spinners : There
is no doubt that Imran Tahir and Trent Boult have bowled exceedingly
well but mainly the fight have come down between S.African pacers and
Newzealand's spinners . A look at the stats clearly shows how the
bowlers from these sides have fared in the series. It also tells that
the outcome will also depend a lot on how Rabada led South African
pacers and Santner led Kiwi spinners perform

The Small Boundaries and Size of the ground :
Cricket at Newzealand's largest stadium is fascinating one. It is one
of those stadiums which are used for multiple purpose. Basically a
rugby stadium where cricket is played in summer . The dimension of
the ground is different to usual cricket grounds . The straight boundaries are 55 and 45 m only though the side boundaries are much
larger . In spite of the fact it is not as easy to score as on some of
the other grounds . However a flat pitch this time may result in high
scoring thriller .
